Physical Education

For all parents, can you please have your children bring or wear appropriate footwear to school each day to participate in Physical Education class. Wearing crocs or other types of sandals is not safe to participate in due to the lack of ankle support and potential for spraining or breaking an ankle. We will be asking students that wear these types of shoes to sit out of pe activities for safety. As the weather also starts to get colder we request that our students dress for the weather each day and are prepared to be outside with sweaters, jackets, hats, gloves/mitts and appropriate footwear.

Athletics

Our cross country team had their second meet this week at West Confederation Park where there was a bit of rain but the athletes toughed it out and still were able to run the race. Our athletes competed very well with lots of our athletes improving greatly on their position from the first race. Congratulations Thunder runners!! The team will have their final race on Monday at Confederation Park so come cheer the athletes on.

Our boys soccer team had their first game on Tuesday at home after school. The boys got off to a hot start scoring three goals in the first half followed by two more early in the second half. Unfortunately the skies opened up and it started to pour rain so they stopped the game for safety. Congratulations to the boys on their first win. Our girls team continued to practice this week to prepare for the start of their season next week. Both teams will be playing at Dr. Gordon Higgins school next week so we wish them the best of luck with their games. A reminder that for away games fans for the games should be immediate family members only.

Our basketball teams have continued practicing this week to get ready for their season. All teams will start games next week with our junior boys playing at home on Monday. Please come out and cheer on our teams whenever they play at home but be respectful to athletes from both teams. For away games only immediate family members are allowed to attend these games. Good luck in all of the games this week to our Thunder basketball teams and the rest of their season.
