Bathrooms and Attendance
Please talk to your children about the importance of being in class, and not spending extra time on trips to the bathroom. We have been experiencing large numbers of student late in the mornings and after lunch, which is impacting their learning. Students need to be on time to class to engage in learning and be successful.
Physical Education
For all parents, can you please have your children bring or wear appropriate footwear to school each day to participate in Physical Education class. Wearing crocs or other types of sandals is not safe to participate in due to the lack of ankle support and potential for spraining or breaking an ankle. We will be asking students that wear these types of shoes to sit out of pe activities for safety. As the weather also starts to get colder we request that our students dress for the weather each day and are prepared to be outside with sweaters, jackets, hats, gloves/mitts and appropriate footwear.

Robotics Team Update
Peter Lougheed Robotics Team Field Trip
On Friday Oct.13 , The Lords of Thunder Robotics Team went to Nelson Mandela Secondary School for a 2-hour build session where we collaborated and shared design ideas. The competition this year is Centerstage presented by RTX Challenge. Students will design and build a robot that can move around an obstacle course while using a mechanical arm. To score, the robot will pick up pixels (octagon shaped plastic objects) and move them around a course to place them in specific areas. The robot will be operated using a remote control and the students will both build and program the robot to win! Students will be fundraising and also competing against other student teams all over Calgary in the next few weeks.
Sincerely
Garvit B. from the robotics team.
Robotics Fundraiser
We are fundraising for our Robotics team! We would like to purchase more materials for our robot. In order to achieve this goal we will be running a fundraiser for Purdy's Chocolate until November 26. The fundraiser will be located online and all purchases can be made on the website. The chocolates will be delivered to the school by December 11.
