Physical Education
For all parents, can you please have your children bring or wear appropriate footwear to school each day to participate in Physical Education class. Wearing crocs or other types of sandals is not safe to participate in due to the lack of ankle support and potential for spraining or breaking an ankle. We will be asking students that wear these types of shoes to sit out of pe activities for safety. As the weather also starts to get colder we request that our students dress for the weather each day and are prepared to be outside with sweaters, jackets, hats, gloves/mitts and appropriate footwear.
Athletics
Our cross country team had their last meet this week at Confederation Park with beautiful weather to end the year off. Our athletes competed very well with lots of our athletes improving greatly on their position from the first race. We are so proud of all of our runners this year on all of their accomplishments. Congratulations Thunder runners!! Stay tuned for the end of the year party details once we are able to put the $5 on Powerschool.
Our girls soccer team played their first game at Gordon Higgins School. The girls played amazing in a hard fought 3-3 tie. Great job girls on such a great first outing. Our boys soccer team had their second game on Tuesday at Gordon Higgins school. The boys played to a 1-1 draw in a very evenly matched game. Congratulations to the boys on continuing their undefeated season. Both teams will be playing at Sir Wilfrid Laurier school next week on Monday & Tuesday and then will have home games on Wednesday & Thursday so we wish them the best of luck with their games. A reminder that for away games fans for the games should be immediate family members only.
Our basketball teams started their season of play this week with our junior players playing at home on Monday. The first game Crossing Park overpowered the boys in a learning experience and the second game was a super close back and forth game with Terry Fox with the boys coming up just short at the buzzer to complete the comeback. Our junior girls played on Tuesday at Annie Gale School and lost their first game to Annie Gale in a super close match and then won their first game of the season beating Clarence Sansom. Great job girls! Our senior boys traveled to Prairie Sky for their first two games of the season and won both games. The boys played great as a team. Our senior girls play tonight at Crossing Park School and we wish them good luck on their games. A reminder for away games only immediate family members should be attending these games and siblings need a parent supervisor with them. Good luck in all of the games next week to our Thunder basketball teams and the rest of their season.
