Student Survey

Each year, PLS students and their families provide input and feedback via several surveys administered throughout the school year.
Please use the following link for more information and to contribute your ideas - See letter under Resources.

Physical Education

For all parents, can you please have your children bring or wear appropriate footwear to school each day to participate in Physical Education class. Wearing crocs or other types of sandals is not safe to participate in due to the lack of ankle support and potential for spraining or breaking an ankle. We will be asking students that wear these types of shoes to sit out of pe activities for safety. As the weather also starts to get colder we request that our students dress for the weather each day and are prepared to be outside with sweaters, jackets, hats, gloves/mitts and appropriate footwear.

Athletics

One of our local basketball organizations, Iconic Hoops, reached out to me to offer our students a chance to be involved in their latest program. This program is offered for both boys and girls looking to improve their basketball skills. Iconic Hoops has also given our school a 10% off discount on their programming using the code Thunder and they also have a sibling discount if you are registering multiple kids in the program. Below is some information about the program if you are interested in having your child join.

The Fall Edition of Iconic Hoops is a 5-week program that consists of 10 dynamic sessions. Designed to enhance both individual and team skills, our program offers a comprehensive approach to basketball development.

Our soccer teams had the week off from games and had some meaningful practices where they were able to work on some team goals. The senior boys were able to arrange a couple of Calgary Cavalry players to come out to their practice on Thursday to work with the boys which was a super cool experience for them. Our soccer teams will have home games on Monday & Tuesday and then will travel to Annie Gale on Wednesday and Thursday for the final games of their seasons. Good luck to both the boys and girls.

Our junior girls team played at home on Tuesday where they won their first game against Terry Fox and had a really close battle with Crossing Park in the second game. Our senior boys travelled to Annie Gale school where they beat both Annie Gale and Clarence Sansom to keep their undefeated season going. They also played at the William D. Pratt tournament where they won their first game in a back and forth battle with H.D. Cartwright school and then lost a super close one to Twelve Mile Coulee. They will now play Saturday morning in a quarterfinal. Our senior girls played at home on Thursday night and won a close game against Clarence Sansom and lost their second game improving their offence. Our senior girls will be playing in the same tournament as the boys and play two games tonight and will finish the tournament on Saturday as well. Good luck with the rest of the tournament.

Tuesday, October 17, 2023 students in Ms.Paauw's Photography class will be attending a field trip to downtown Calgary. Our intention on this trip is to learn about capturing the beauty of Calgary’s urban and natural landscapes, as well as taking portraits of, and learning about, Calgarians who live in our city.
