Athletics
Our volleyball teams played their first league games this week. Our senior boys started the year off with two tough losses against Crossing Park. Our junior boys played right after and were able to split their games with a dominant win in the second set. Our girls teams played hard against Crossing Park and learned lots and improved their skills in losses on Tuesday. All four teams have shown great promise this year and we look forward to seeing them represent our school this year.
Our wrestling team competed in their divisionals on Tuesday. All of our athletes that went out worked super hard and had a great season improving their wrestling skills. A huge thank you to our coaches Mr. Barisow, Mr. Franklin and Ms. Bollman for all of their hard work getting our wrestlers ready for the season.

Physical Education
Our grade 9 ski/snowboard trip went off amazing. The students had so much fun and the weather was amazing for the students. They learned lots with some even going up to the top of the chair lift. Great job to all of our students that went on this field trip. Our grade 8's will be going on February 12 and the 7's on the 13 . A reminder for parents to please pay for the field trip on PowerSchool if your child attended or is attending.
A reminder that we will be running outdoor modules all winter long and students in these modules need to come to class prepared with sweaters, warm pants, winter jackets, mittens/gloves, hats or hoods, warm socks and snow pants and boots are beneficial but are not mandatory. Lots of students are coming to school unprepared and are having trouble participating in their modules because of this.
Parents / Guardians Webinar Series
The Calgary Board of Education invites all parents and guardians to join us in an online series focusing on child and youth well-being. These sessions are hosted in partnership with experts from Alberta Health Services and will explore topics such as vaping, brain development, mental health, and sexual health. Click here to learn more: Child and Youth Well-Being: A Webinar Series for Parents and Guardians
CBE educators believe that parents and guardians can inspire their kids to make healthy lifestyle choices and increase protective factors – in order to do so, they need the right tools and information. Well-being is a precondition for learning. As our understanding of student well-being continues to evolve, it is important for those that support children and youth to stay up to date on the same information so everyone can support student success. The intention of the series is to advance student well-being by raising family and caregiver’s understanding of a variety of health- related topics. Thank you for your time and consideration to join us.

Learning Commons – Overdue Books
Students and parents please check at home and lockers for overdue library books and return them to the Learning Commons as soon as possible.
Being Safe and Kind Online
Let's keep our kids safe online. Teaching them about good online behavior is important. Talk to them about being kind, staying safe, and setting rules for device use. Check their devices often to ensure they're safe while exploring online, and that any social media they are using is not being used in a harmful way. Children need consistent guidance in this, and are still learning how to use technology appropriately.
Talking to our kids about things like being polite online, keeping personal information private, and knowing how to deal with any mean behavior they might come across is really important. We can do this by having regular chats with them about what they do online and which apps they use. It's also good to have rules about how much time they spend on devices and what they do with them.
