Dear PLS Families,
Peter Lougheed School staff and students gathered together in assemblies in recognition of Indigenous Veterans’ Day and Remembrance Day on Friday. We are very grateful to the staff and students who led this work – thank you.
This week we also welcomed four student teachers from the University of Calgary. We are honoured to partner with the Werkland Department of Education and look forward to working with pre-service teachers each year.
Please be reminded that Peter Lougheed School is closed for Fall Break from November 10-12. Classes will resume on Thursday, November 13.
Student Progress Conferences
PLS is hosting Student Progress Conferences on November 27 and 28. Meetings will be scheduled in ten minute slots, November 27 from 4:30pm-8pm and November 28 from 9am-1pm. The booking system will open for families via PowerSchool on Thursday, November 13 at 8am and close on Wednesday, November 27 at midnight.
Grade 9 Biodiversity Trip to the Zoo
On December 2nd and 4th, grade 9 students will be attending a class on biodiversity at the Calgary Zoo. We need volunteers in order for this trip to go forward and would appreciate help with this. If you have completed the CBE security clearance and are able to help, please contact Kelly Achtymichuk at kdachtymichuk@cbe.ab.ca. Thank you!
Athletics
Basketball
The rest of the Basketball season is unfortunately cancelled. We want to thank and congratulate all our athletes who represented our school during the 2025 season. We will share updates soon regarding any team fee refunds and details for the wrap-up party celebration once this information is finalized. Practices may continue for our teams for the duration of the season.
Next week, Junior boys will have practice after school (3:45-5:15pm). Please see the athletics schedule below:
