Interpreters/Translation
CBE is now using Language Lines Solutions for on demand interpreters/translation services. If you require translation services for your Student Progress Conferences please reach out to your child’s teacher. We will no longer be booking in person translators.
Traffic and Bus Safety
Please do not park in the bus zone from 8:45am-9:25am or from 3:25pm-4:00pm. We now have six busses daily at PLS and they require this space to drop off and pick up students safely. Please remind all walking students to use the crosswalks once cars have stopped for them.
Cold Weather Safety
Peter Lougheed school doors open at 9am. If you are dropping your child(ren) off early, please ensure they are dressed appropriately for the weather. Bus service can also be impacted by the weather and students need to be prepared for cold temperatures as well.
Social Media safety
We are asking all parents and guardians of Peter Lougheed Students to please check in with your children about their social media use. Many instances of bullying and conflicts happen online and specifically through the app SnapChat. There are some resources available through SnapChat called the Family Centre, where parents can monitor their children's use of the app. Please follow the link below to learn more.

Athletics
Our basketball teams played in the playoffs this week. Our senior girls played their best basketball of the season and came up just short in their quarterfinal match versus Annie Gale. Our junior girls played Crossing Park in their quarterfinal and had a tough matchup but the girls played amazing. Our junior boys won their quarterfinal matchup against Terry Fox on Tuesday playing really well and came up against the top team in the division Prairie Sky in the semifinals and played extremely well in a close loss. Our senior boys kept their perfect season going beating Annie Gale and will play in the finals at Nelson Mandela School on Monday at 8:45 pm. Fans are allowed to come and cheer on the boys but need to be respectful and have rides arranged for when the game ends.
Just a reminder of parents of both our soccer teams and basketball teams that we need you to pay your team fees as we need to pay our referees for the season and pay for the tournaments we were in. If you are having trouble paying your fees on Powerschool please contact the office and they can help you out.
Athletic Schedule.
Please ensure that if your child is planning to try out for an athletic team that they have turned in their athletic tryout purple form to the phys ed office. If students still need this form, they can pick one up from the pe office in the gym.

Physical Education
This week in Physical Education class our students were involved in the dance module and we saw some great work in bhangra, hip hop, line dancing, partner dancing, and dance creation. Students will be starting their fitness testing this upcoming week doing tests that will determine cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, strength, flexibility, speed, agility & power.
Just a reminder to all parents to ensure students are coming with proper clothing so they can participate in Physical Education class. The weather is getting colder in the mornings so we need to have students come prepared to be outside. Also, any students wearing crocs or sandals/flip flops will not be allowed to participate in the activities as there are major safety concerns with these types of footwear.
