Thank you to all our students, families, community members and staff who came together at Peter Lougheed School to celebrate our Story of Us night on May 14.     It was wonderful to see everyone engaging in recognizing the projects and  

Grade 9 Farewell 

Our Grade 9 Farewell is quickly approaching on Thursday, May 28 with a dinner and dance at the Rio Banquet Hall.   This is an off-site activity (field trip) and there is some required paperwork that will be sent home on Tuesday, May 19.   The required paperwork includes an Acknowledgement of Risk form which needs a parent/guardian signature as well as the bottom portion of the letter which is used to indicate the transportation plan for the student attending.   Please note that this event is for Peter Lougheed School students only – we are not able to invite families or guests.   There is no cost to attend the event.  There is no transportation provided by the school.   Please reach out to Lindsay Stafford with any questions.

Athletics 

Badminton: 

All four of our badminton teams competed in their divisional tournament over the course of the week at the Genesis Center. Congratulations to all of our athletes on an amazing season! Below are the results for each team: 

Grade 6: 

Our grade 6’s placed 2^nd at their tournament! Our athletes had such a successful first season, and this was a great experience for everyone involved! The future of our badminton program looks bright! A big thank you to Ms. Sally, Ms. Sleno & Ms. Nanji on coaching our 6’s this season! 

Grade 7: 

Our grade 7’s placed 3^rd at their tournament! Our athletes competed hard and showed such great school spirit and good sportsmanship! We are very proud of our grade 7’s on a wonderful season! A big thank you to Ms. McMillan, Ms. Moran & Mr. Penner on coaching our 7’s this season! 

Grade 8: 

Our grade 8’s placed 1^st at their tournament! Our grade 8 badminton team has now won three years in a row and has cemented themselves as a very strong addition to our badminton program! Congratulations to our grade 8 badminton team as they brought our school a banner this season! A big thank you to Ms. Masson, Ms. Sleno & Ms. Nanji on coaching our 6’s this season! 

Grade 9: 

Our grade 9’s placed 1^st at their tournament! Our grade 9 badminton team showed amazing leadership and embodied all the positive characteristics of what an athlete should look like. They displayed excellent sportsmanship and competed hard! Huge congrats to our seniors as they won our school a banner! A big thank you to Mr. Nguyen, Ms. Nolasco & Ms. Dhillon on coaching our 9’s this season! 

 Track & Field: 

Track & Field tryouts begin next week! Please make sure your child has their Athletic Tryout Form signed with T&F checked off! Below is next week’s tryout schedule: 

For each event & grade – 8 total athletes make the team: 

• 3 Boys 
• 3 Girls 
• 2 Alternates (1 male & 1 female) 

Our track meet is on Tuesday, June 2^nd @ Foothills Athletic Park.
