Volleyball

Our junior boys played on Monday in the semi final vs Clarence Sansom.  The boys played their best volleyball of the year winning in 3 very close sets.  They then went on to the finals vs Crossing Park the number 1 team in the division.  The boys played well in two lost sets and came up short in their bid for Lougheed’s first ever volleyball banner.  We are so proud of all of the effort from the boys this season and the growth they showed.  Our senior girls played in the semi finals vs Annie Gale and played their hearts out in a 3 set loss.  The girls were so close and played some amazing volleyball all season.  Congratulations to all of our volleyball teams on their amazing seasons and can’t wait to see what the kids can bring in 2026.  Any volleyball athletes that have not paid their fees yet please get those paid as we are hoping to have the wrap up parties held either the first or second week back.

For any parents wishing to get their kids into volleyball outside of school there are many clubs that offer youth camps and programming.  Here are a couple that are located in our city in the north side of the city.  Volleydome Volleydome | YOUTH & Volleyball Calgary Volleyball Training | Elite Volleyball Academy | Volleyball Calgary

Badminton

We have officially been notified that badminton season is a go now that the strike with our caretakers will be ending.  The season begins on April 1st and runs late into May.  Students trying out for these teams need to be available for the entire season and available to practice twice a week with a tournament happening at some time in May.  The tryout schedule is below with the 6, 7, and 8’s during the first week back from Spring break and the 9’s trying out the second week back.  Any students wishing to tryout for badminton this year need to ensure they have turned in the purple athletic form and also need to sign up on the bulletin board in the gathering space.

Athletic Schedule

Please ensure that if your child is planning to try out for an athletic team that they have turned in their athletic tryout purple form to the phys ed office.  If students still need this form, they can pick one up from the pe office in the gym.
