CUPE Local 40 Strike
During the CUPE strike our facilities personnel will not be at school, but in-person classes will continue. There are some changes to how things are operating at school, and they are outlined in detail in an email sent from the CBE to families and on this page.
CBE CUPE 40 Strike Information
One of the important differences is that there are no spectators at athletic events, except for parents and siblings of players. Siblings must be supervised by their parents/guardians.
Ramadan
Considering the time change last weekend, the window for prayers will allow for students to pray at home. We will no longer be hosting large rooms for prayer during Ramadan as the window for prayer goes until 5PM on Monday.
Traffic Safety
Our largest concern with traffic safety is vehicles stopping in the middle of the road and drivers calling students out into the street to get in. This impedes traffic flow and creates a serious safety concern, as there have been several close calls. Numerous drivers have done this even when there is room right beside them to pull over safely. Please do your part to improve the safety and flow of traffic at PLS.
Athletics
Our volleyball teams were all in quarter-finals this week. Our junior girls started the week off with some tremendous volleyball losing in 3 sets in some very back and forth volleyball that could have gone to either team. Our senior girls also played on the Tuesday and came out on top in three sets and will play in the semi-finals on Tuesday. Our senior boys played on Wednesday evening and played hard in a loss to end their season. Finally, our junior boys also played Wednesday and came out victorious in two sets playing the best volleyball of their season. The boys will play Monday in the semi-finals. Good luck to our teams in playoffs and Go Thunder Go!!
Athletic Schedule
Please ensure that if your child is planning to try out for an athletic team that they have turned in their athletic tryout purple form to the phys ed office. If students still need this form, they can pick one up from the pe office in the gym.
