Book Fair

Save The Date!

Dear families,

Mark your calendars! The fun and excitement of a Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school so save the date!

Our Scholastic Book Fair will take place on March 18-22

Remember, all purchases benefit our school and earn Rewards that can be redeemed for books and Education Resources for our school’s classrooms and library.

Each class will have an opportunity to purchase books at the book fair.  If a student would like to purchase books in school, please send them with cash or a card on their scheduled date or during anytime at lunch.  Families can also purchase books during parent teacher conferences on Thursday night or Friday.

Looking forward to seeing you at our Scholastic Book Fair!

Happy Reading!

Cultural Potluck & Indigenous Ways of Knowing

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents who contributed to 7-5's cultural potluck. In addition to Ms. Irving sharing her knowledge of Indigenous cultural dishes and doing a demo for students of a few delicious treats, we were overwhelmed by the variety and richness of the dishes that were shared by the families who kindly contributed. From savory to sweet, each dish showcased the diverse cultures within our school community. It was inspiring to see how food can bring us together.

Your generosity and willingness to share not only delicious food but also stories and traditions with our students are greatly appreciated.

Grade 5 Field Trip to Telus Spark Science Centre

The Grade 5 classes enjoyed a field trip to the Science Centre this past week. We participated in a Beat the Chemistry Clock hands-on program to practice our skills with the scientific method. We also experienced landing on the moon in the digital immersion gallery, exploring exhibits including learning about the inventions and ideas of Leonardo da Vinci, and trying out the bed of nails. Thank you to all the volunteers who came with us and made this experience possible for our students!

Athletics

Our boys and girls teams played 2 games this week one home and one away.  Our senior girls, junior girls, and juniors boys swept Prairie Sky School and our senior boys split with them.  Then later on in the week our boys played at home against Annie Gale and both teams split and our girls teams played at Annie Gale and our junior girls won both and our senior girls lost both.  The season is coming to a close in the next week and playoffs will start for the boys next week and the girls the following week.  Our senior teams are also playing this weekend in a tournament at Annie Gale so good luck to them. A reminder to please pay your volleyball fees if you are on one of the teams.

Physical Education

A reminder for parents to please pay for the ski and snowboard field trip on PowerSchool if your child attended.

A reminder that we will be running outdoor modules all winter long and students in these modules need to come to class prepared with sweaters, warm pants, winter jackets, mittens/gloves, hats or hoods, warm socks and snow pants and boots are beneficial but are not mandatory.  Lots of students are coming to school unprepared and are having trouble participating in their modules because of this.
