Next year

If your child is currently in grades 5-8 and you know they will not be attending Peter Lougheed School next year, please contact to the office to let us know as soon as possible.

Athletics

Our athletics has officially ended for the 2024-2025 year.  Last week our track and field team competed at the meet and had some amazing weather.  We had some great showings from our athletes and we are proud of all of the hard work the runners, jumpers and throwers showed this year.

This year we finished with two banners.  One in basketball and one in badminton.  We are super proud of all of the students that represented our school this year in athletics and we can’t wait for next year to continue to see improvements in all of our athletes.

For students wanting to improve their skills there are lots of programs that run in the summer for them to stay active and see big improvements.  Places to look for summer camps include in and around the community on the city of Calgary website, Genesis Center, University of Calgary and Mount Royal University just to name a few.

Just a reminder for parents to please check their Powerschool accounts and pay any outstanding athletics fees that are still owing as these fees help us to take kids to tournaments, pay for referees and host wrap up parties to celebrate the athletes accomplishments.

Have a great summer and stay active!! Go Thunder Go!!

Yearbook Garage Sale

The Yearbook team is selling older yearbooks at a discounted price. EVERYTHING MUST GO! Prices range from $20 - $5 depending on the year. The Garage Sale is on Wednesday, June 11 at lunch in the gathering space. We accept cash or card.

Physical Education

With warmer weather back we are noticing students wearing shoes that are not suitable for participating in pe activities.  These shoes include sandals, crocs, flip flops and slides.  We are okay with students wearing these shoes around the building but when it is time for physical education class we ask that these students change into a pair of running shoes that they are also bringing to school with them.  There is a great safety concern of students breaking bones in their feet or ankles with improper shoes participating in our activities.  Students wearing the incorrect footwear will be asked to sit out of activities until they fix the issues and parents will be notified of the issue.

This week we will finish off our soccer, football, cricket, basketball, softball and floor hockey modules.  The following week we will be competing in some head to head challenges between two classes.
