April 8-12

April 8th- Solar Eclipse

On Monday, April 8 a partial solar eclipse will be visible in Calgary. During this partial solar eclipse on Monday, we would like to invite all students to remain at school during the lunch break. Please send a lunch with your child. If you decide that your child will walk home for lunch on Monday, please discuss with your child not to look at the sun to protect his/her eyes from damage by the solar eclipse.  https://peterlougheed.cbe.ab.ca/news/precautions-for-the-solar-eclipse-on-monday-april-8-1712092935309

Athletics

Badminton Tryouts for our 6’s, 7’s and 8’s happened this week with lots of students coming out. The teams will be posted for call backs for students to have one more tryout outside of the gym doors. Thank you all who came out. If your child is interested to continue pursuing badminton they can take lessons at the Sunridge Badminton Center or look into playing at the Genesis center. Good luck to the grade 9’s on their tryout on Monday and Tuesday.

Physical Education

A reminder for parents to please pay for the ski and snowboard field trip on PowerSchool if your child attended.

A reminder that we will be running outdoor modules all spring and students in these modules need to come to class prepared with sweaters, warm pants, jackets, mittens/gloves, hats or hoods, warm socks and snow pants and boots are beneficial but are not mandatory.  Lots of students are coming to school unprepared and are having trouble participating in their modules because of this.
